English For Juniors or E4J was started in the year 2009 to address the issue of poor literacy in the English language among the National Type Tamil school students.
Primary school students will be immersed in a 3-hour session every week with the objective of learning 200 new English words.
Students will be engaged through games and activities which involves the four main domains, speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Besides improving their English literacy skills, these classes will also boost the students’ self-confidence by communicating confidently with other students in the class.
Facilitators are trained to effectively engage and teach English under the E4J programme. Subject matter experts were brought in to impart knowledge as well as to guide facilitators.

- Boost their self-esteem.
- Functional use of the language is emphasised to build confidence among students.
- To develop their personality and improve their confidence level.
- Learn the value of teamwork and often could take on leadership roles.
