EWRF Ipoh Drives Digital Education Through Gamified Learning

IPOH – The EWRF Ipoh Branch successfully conducted a digital education programme using gamification at SJKT Perak Sangeetha Sabah last Saturday. Approximately 100 students and 10 teachers engaged in interactive learning through the “Giants vs Titans” quiz platform, developed by First Ray Sdn Bhd. The student-centred approach incorporated game elements like challenges and leaderboards to make learning dynamic and engaging. The initiative, launched by YB Tuan Kulasegaran, Member of Parliament for Ipoh Barat, aimed to encourage students to embrace technology confidently. EWRF Ipoh Chairman Mr Sylverster Dhas emphasized the importance of adapting to digital transformation, stating that such initiatives prepare youth for a technology-driven future.

EWRF Kajang Brings Deepavali Cheer to 65 B40 Families

KAJANG, 26 April 2025 – EWRF Kajang, in collaboration with TNB Pelitawanis PJ and TNB Kelab Kilat PJ, recently brought festive joy to 65 B40 families through a Deepavali charity initiative at UNITEN Kajang. The event featured the distribution of festive hampers and angpow packets to underprivileged households. The programme was supported by generous cash donations from TNB and various well-wishers, who also contributed cookies, breakfast, clothing, and venue support. The collective effort successfully created meaningful celebrations for recipient families, demonstrating strong community solidarity. EWRF Kajang expressed heartfelt gratitude to all donors and volunteers for helping to illuminate the festival of lights for those in need.

EWRF Ipoh, St. John Ambulance to Conduct CPR Training in Schools

IPOH – The EWRF Ipoh Branch, in collaboration with St. John Ambulance, will be conducting a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Awareness and Basic Health Support Programme for students and teachers in primary schools.

The initiative aims to equip students and teachers with essential lifesaving skills and raise awareness about emergency response procedures. The programme will include an introduction to the importance of CPR followed by practical, hands-on training sessions.

This community-focused health initiative underscores EWRF Ipoh’s commitment to empowering the public with crucial knowledge that can save lives during critical situations. The training seeks to build a more prepared and resilient school community through practical health education.

EWRF Ipoh Assists Student with Chronic Lung Condition

IPOH – EWRF Ipoh Branch is providing critical support for a Year 6 student from SJKT Changkat Kinding who suffers from interstitial lung disease. The student has required supplemental oxygen in the classroom for the past two years and, due to worsening respiratory difficulties, now needs a continuous 3-litre oxygen supply around the clock. Following a needs assessment at the school, EWRF Ipoh is coordinating closely with the student’s mother to source oxygen tanks. This welfare initiative highlights the foundation’s ongoing commitment to addressing urgent health needs within the educational community, ensuring vulnerable students receive essential support.

Guidance and Motivation for Kulai Students

KULAI – On 24 September 2025, EWRF Johor Bahru was honoured to be invited by SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, Kulai to conduct an impactful session addressing adolescent issues, career guidance, and motivation. Held from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, the three-hour programme aimed to inspire and support students as they navigated personal development and future planning challenges. To foster a warm and engaging environment, EWRF JB also sponsored lunch for 54 students and 6 facilitators. The session was well-received by both students and educators, reinforcing EWRF Johor Bahru’s commitment to youth development and community outreach through meaningful, student-focused initiatives.

Collaborative Programme Empowers 51 Kluang Students with Science Skills

KLUANG – On 26 September 2025, The Journey of Education programme, jointly organised by E-Rotary 3310 Singapore, Rotary Club Kluang, and EWRF Kluang, successfully supported 51 students by providing targeted educational assistance in preparation for a science project. The initiative featured a special workshop led by dedicated teacher Ms Manjula Paramasivam, who guided lower secondary students through the essential steps of the scientific process—from hypothesis formation to experimental design. Her session provided valuable hands-on learning, equipping participants with the confidence and methodology needed to excel in their scientific pursuits. This successful partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing educational outcomes and empowering young learners through practical, student-focused initiatives.

IPOH – The EWRF Ipoh Branch actively supported local youth during the recent Karnival Muda, held at Stadium Indera Mulia. Volunteers from the branch had the courtesy of accompanying students, assisting them with registration, and providing guidance at various Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) course booths. The carnival highlighted the growing interest in skill-based education as a pathway to future careers, and the enthusiasm shown by the students was truly encouraging. EWRF Ipoh’s involvement underscores its commitment to empowering young people by facilitating access to practical and technical training opportunities — helping them embrace vocational qualifications for a brighter and more sustainable future.

JASIN, MELAKA- EWRF Melaka, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Jasin, successfully hosted a medical screening and blood donation campaign at Mydin Jasin yesterday. The community-driven initiative received an encouraging response from local residents, many of whom stepped forward to donate blood in support of hospital needs, while others benefited from essential health screenings. The campaign not only provided valuable preventive healthcare services but also raised public awareness on the importance of regular health checks. Organizers from both EWRF Melaka and Lions Club Jasin extended their heartfelt appreciation to all donors, volunteers, and community members whose strong support contributed to the success of the event. This partnership highlights the shared commitment of both organizations to promoting health, well-being, and community solidarity in Melaka.

EWRF Hulu Selangor :
Offers Free Weekend Tuition for B40 Students

EWRF Hulu Selangor has launched a free weekly tuition programme for students from B40 families in the Bukit Beruntung area. The initiative, currently supporting around 20 learners, provides comprehensive academic support in key SPM subjects including Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, and History. Classes are held every Saturday from 8.00am to 1.00pm and are taught by a team of dedicated volunteer teachers. To ensure accessibility, the programme includes free meals and transportation for all participants. Students also receive complimentary SPM trial practice books to enhance their exam readiness. Beyond academics, the initiative emphasises holistic support—providing nourishment, encouragement, and a safe learning environment. EWRF Hulu Selangor continues to empower underprivileged youth through education, helping them build confidence and work toward a brighter future.

“True Heroes Never Bully”: Anti-Bullying Awareness Programme Held at SMK Bedong

In light of the alarming rise in bullying cases reported in the media, EWRF Sungai Petani recently organised an Anti-Bullying Awareness Programme. The event, held at SMK Bedong, aimed to educate students on the different forms of bullying—physical, verbal, cyber, and social, while highlighting both the short- and long-term effects on victims. Students were also encouraged and empowered to report such incidents to help ensure they do not recur. With the key messages “Bullying is not bravery—it is cowardice” and “True heroes protect, not hurt”, the initiative provided a platform for discussion and reflection, fostering a culture of empathy and responsibility among the participants.

EWRF Kluang: Launch of “Learning Techniques & Memory Enhancement” Academy Journey Programme

The “Learning Techniques & Memory Enhancement” Academy Journey Programme was launched on August 15, 2025, at 3.00pm at Kluang Tutorial School (Pusat Tuisyen Kluang). The initiative is a collaborative effort between Kluang Rotary Club, Rotary E-Club 3310 Singapore, and EWRF Kluang. The programme was officially inaugurated by Dato Dr. A. Elanthevan, President of Kluang Rotary Club, together with Ms. Umma Jananisheree, Chairperson of EWRF Kluang. The launch followed a press conference and a series of organized activities. A total of 74 upper primary and secondary students from the B40 and M40 communities participated in the session, eager to benefit from the programme’s tools and strategies. Adding an international note to the event, the President of Rotary E-Club 3310 Singapore addressed participants via video conference, conveying heartfelt wishes and encouraging students to seize the opportunity, apply the techniques effectively, and strengthen their readiness for upcoming examinations.

Students of SJKT Alor Gajah were equipped with vital lifesaving skills through a CPR and First Aid training programme organised by Mr. Mathiyalagan Elloo, Chairman of EWRF Melaka. The initiative aimed to foster crucial awareness and preparedness among young people. The hands-on session guided students through essential emergency response procedures, empowering them with the confidence and knowledge to act decisively in critical situations. The programme concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by YB Adly Zahari, Deputy Minister of Defence, Malaysia, whose presence underscored the national importance of community-based emergency preparedness. This initiative marks a significant step towards nurturing a resilient and capable generation, ready to respond effectively in times of need.

EWRF Hulu Selangor Launches Final SPM Revision Programme for B40 Students. EWRF Hulu Selangor has launched its “SPM Tuition (Pecutan Akhir 2025)” initiative, a community service project designed to provide critical academic support for students from B40 families. The weekly programme, held at the Pekan Rasa Centre, is currently benefitting approximately 12 students preparing for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations. The classes are conducted by Pn. Seamala, a teacher from SMK Batang Kali, and focus on core subjects including Bahasa Melayu, Sejarah, Mathematics, and English. Fully sponsored by members of EWRF Hulu Selangor, the initiative aims to bridge educational gaps and enhance examination readiness. The intensive classes will run twice weekly until November, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to achieve improved academic outcomes.

EWRF Muar Empowers Students with Targeted Saturday Language Classes

EWRF Muar is tackling language barriers head-on with its new Saturday Classes, launched this January at EWRF Muar hostel. The initiative provides crucial support in Bahasa Melayu and English to 20 students from local Tamil schools who need it most. The sessions are designed for personalised learning, with students grouped by proficiency level. Five dedicated helpers offer one-to-one coaching for the most vulnerable learners, aiming to close educational gaps and build confidence. The nurturing environment extends beyond academics; a break for Milo and traditional snacks fosters community, while interactive activities reinforce the lessons. This holistic approach is a core part of EWRF Muar’s commitment to underserved communities. The programme not only strengthens language skills but also promotes character development, as seen with nine students who concurrently participated in a three-week Civil Society Intervention (CSI) programme, guiding them toward a brighter academic future.

EWRF MUAR : Students Enjoy Educational Morning Cruise on Muar River

Twelve excited children experienced the historic Muar River firsthand during a special morning cruise from the Tanjung Emas jetty today. The event, coordinated by Madam Mary, provided a vibrant outing for students accompanied by their teachers. The group enjoyed refreshments before boarding a crowded tourist boat at 10:30 am. Wearing bright orange life jackets, the pupils eagerly identified riverside landmarks during the 30-minute upriver journey. The informative cruise passed under the Sultan Ismail Bridge and offered a unique perspective of fishing villages and local vegetation. Upon returning, students participated in field games, received prizes, and were treated to goodie bags. The Alumni (Mercu) batch, led by Mr. Palani, generously sponsored the boat tickets and a KFC lunch for all attendees, making the educational excursion both memorable and enriching for the young participants. The outing highlighted Bandar Maharani’s royal history and provided valuable community-supported learning outside the classroom.
